The Butler Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Putnam County War Eagles with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Butler enjoyed a cozy 57-40 win over Putnam County on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Butler, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Butler to victory were Logan Davis and Brayla Harris. Davis scored 12 points along with six assists and five steals, while Harris scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least 25% of Butler's points. Kam Gresham was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals and three blocks.
Several War Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamyra Aikens, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was Aikens' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Journey Waller, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Putnam County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Butler racked up 16 assists.
Butler's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Putnam County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Butler will take on Academy of Richmond County in a holiday battle at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at. Academy of Richmond County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Butler is ranked 57th). Putnam County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jasper County at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th.
