ALA - West Foothills extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Kenyon Rosenthall. The Guardians blew past the Independence Patriots 47-22 on Friday for which the team can thank Rosenthall, who rushed for 171 yards and five TDs while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for ALA - West Foothills, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dom Bove, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to ALA - West Foothills' defense and their four sacks. Independence's QB won't forget Hunter Cotten anytime soon given he sacked him three times.
Defeat or not, Independence got some senior leadership from Thomas Kpakra and Daniel Rodriguez. Kpakra rushed for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Rodriguez picked up 127 receiving yards and one score. Rodriguez didn't just play on offense: he also made eight total tackles and defended one pass.
ALA - West Foothills' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Independence, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Looking ahead, ALA - West Foothills will challenge Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' defense has only allowed 9.8 points per game this season, so the Guardians' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Independence, they will take on Paradise Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
