Northridge has gone 8-2 against NorthWood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Northridge will be strutting in after a win while NorthWood will be coming in after a defeat.
Northridge lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Goshen, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Raiders put the hurt on the RedHawks with a sharp 13-3 victory on Monday. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Addi Knisley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Knisley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Rielyn Goodwin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Humbarger, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Northridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, NorthWood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 13-9 to Concord.
Like Northridge, NorthWood also got a great game from a two-way player: Chloe Davis. She tossed 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Davis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Payton Sears led a balanced group of hitters, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Megan Yoder, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple.
NorthWood's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Northridge, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like NorthWood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northridge came up short against NorthWood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
