The Pine Tree Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell to Marshall 62-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakairi Blacknell, who scored 18 points. Blacknell is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Helton, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Pine Tree's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Marshall, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-22.
Pine Tree does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marshall also has no future games currently scheduled.
