The Cottondale Hornets had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They took down Altha 61-42. Given Cottondale's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Altha is ranked 675th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Cottondale to victory were Messiah Hudson and Cameron Odom. Hudson scored 15 points along with three steals, while Odom scored 14 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hudson scored 15 or more points. Ahmad Stringer was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Cottondale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Altha, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cottondale will take on Malone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Malone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. As for Altha, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
