Hubbard has gone a perfect 10-0 against Struthers recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Eagles will take on the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hubbard has five straight victories, Struthers has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Hubbard got the win against Sharpsville by a conclusive 14-2. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Haleigh Taylor was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Taylor was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Songer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. What's more, she posted four RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ashley Masluk, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Hubbard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .438 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Struthers fell victim to Poland Seminary and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 17-0.
Hubbard's record is now 7-1. As for Struthers, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Struthers' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hubbard has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Struthers, though, as they've been averaging 10.9 hits. Given Hubbard's sizable advantage in that area, the Wildcats will need to find a way to close that gap.
Hubbard got the 'W' when the teams last played on Saturday against Struthers by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
