The Blackfoot Broncos were the 58-50 winner over the Skyline Grizzlies when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Blackfoot suffered a tough 63-43 defeat at the hands of Skyline on Wednesday. Blackfoot has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Blackfoot saw an underclassman step up: Jaci Capson scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Marlee Pieper, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Shay Shippen, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds for Skyline. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Shippen has scored at least 25% of Skyline's points. Kysa Shippen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Blackfoot's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Skyline, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Blackfoot will be playing at home against Idaho Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Idaho Falls is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to face off against Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
