The Williamsburg Blue Pirates will square off against the Curwensville Golden Tide at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Williamsburg and Glendale have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Blue Pirates were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Vikings. Considering the Blue Pirates have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Preston Long made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Williamsburg got a massive performance out of Andrew Clark, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Clark a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Brantner, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Williamsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only posted a batting average of .238.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Curwensville). Everything went their way against Marion Center on Friday as they made off with a 20-9 victory. With that win, the Golden Tide brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Lincoln Hoyt was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Tkacik, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Williamsburg's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Curwensville, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williamsburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Curwensville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Williamsburg took their victory against Curwensville in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Blue Pirates repeat their success, or do the Golden Tide have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
