The Crystal River Pirates suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 75-34 loss at the hands of Lecanto. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crystal River in their matchups with Lecanto: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Crystal River saw an underclassman step up: Ej Jenkins scored 14 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Hamilton, who scored three points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Crystal River's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Lecanto, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crystal River will play host again and welcome Dunnellon, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Dunnellon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Thursday. Lecanto won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chiefland at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th.
