Leflore is a perfect 4-0 against McCurtain since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Leflore will be playing in front of their home fans against McCurtain at 11:00 a.m. One thing working in Leflore's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
While Leflore didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Buffalo Valley with a sharp 13-2 win on Thursday. Considering the Savages have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tristian Wheat made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Leflore got a massive performance out of Tucker Morton, who scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Morton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Justice Reineman was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McCurtain). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bokoshe 7-5. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Like Leflore, McCurtain also got a great game from a two-way player: Jackson Blaylock. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Blaylock was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Avery Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Korey Lovell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
McCurtain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.
Leflore pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for McCurtain, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Leflore has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like McCurtain struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Leflore beat McCurtain 5-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Leflore repeat their success, or does McCurtain has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
