Homer is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Columbia Central is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Trojans will host the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Homer made easy work of Manchester and carried off a 12-1 win.
Payten Minix was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Columbia Central never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Leslie with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Golden Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Kelsey Fausz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Evans, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Homer's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Columbia Central, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Homer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. However, it's not like Columbia Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Homer skirted past Columbia Central 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
