The Crockett Bulldogs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down Onalaska 70-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Crockett also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Crockett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Naomi Taylor led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 24 rebounds. Taylor continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tania Davis, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists.
Onalaska lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mary Joy Cariaga, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alora Pinkert, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Crockett's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Onalaska, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-14.
Crockett will take on the Longhorns at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tarkington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1221st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 545th). As for Onalaska, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Waverly is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
