Basketball Recap: Tucker Duren's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wiregrass over Southern Christian

Wiregrass was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Christian Patriots. The Kings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 50-48.

Wiregrass' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tucker Duren, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. Those 14 points gave Duren a new career-high. Brayden Treadaway was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and five steals.

Leading Southern Christian to victory were Cole Johnson and Jagger Scott. Johnson went 8 for 20 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds, while Scott scored five points and 12 boards. Scott has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Wiregrass' defeat dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Southern Christian, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-9.

Wiregrass has already played their next contest (against Ezekiel Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Southern Christian will be playing at home against Tuscaloosa Home Educators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Southern Christian is facing Tuscaloosa Home Educators at the right time seeing as Tuscaloosa Home Educators is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
