Woodstown has gone 8-1 against Overbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Woodstown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Woodstown came out on top against Schalick on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Wolverines blew past the Cougars 13-3. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Leah Clark spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Wygand, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Hitchner, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Overbrook couldn't beat Schalick on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Rams fell 12-8 to the Cougars. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Overbrook got a massive performance out of Alaina Dufresne, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gianna Simon, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Overbrook's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Woodstown, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodstown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Overbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodstown couldn't quite finish off Overbrook when the teams last played back in April and fell 5-3. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
