Last Friday, Argyle might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Corinth an easy 43-17 win. Argyle has struggled against Corinth recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Hartford Central's game on Friday was all tied up 18-18 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They escaped with a win against Hadley Luzerne by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41. Given Hartford Central's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Hadley Luzerne is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hartford Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Nadeau out in front who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Raeghan Liebig, who scored no points along with 14 rebounds.
Argyle's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hartford Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Argyle might still be hurting after the 58-37 defeat they got from Hartford Central in their previous meeting back in February. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Argyle was down 37-15.
