It's playoff time, and Burlington had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] Cyclones get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday. Grace Birk made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Camden Swank was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hannah Sides, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Burlington's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-3.
