Centennial hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Mountain View's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Centennial's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Middleton hitters got past them. The Patriots came up short against the Vikings on Friday, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since April 19, 2024.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mountain View ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Capital 8-6. The victory was familiar territory for the Mavericks, who have now won four matchups in a row.
Davey Green tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Schneidt, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Braylon Schellhammer, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital only managed six hits.
Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Mountain View, their record is now 13-7.
Centennial couldn't quite get it done against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
