Tates Creek dropped their record down to 11-14 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the West Jessamine Colts by a score of 8-7. The Commodores were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 10-5.
Jose Ramos and Cooper Jackson did some serious damage despite the final result: Ramos got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Jackson went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were Ramos' first of the season.
As for West Jessamine, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 11-22 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 8th.
On West Jessamine's side, Hayden Peters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Peters was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Tyler Giles looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
