Elizabeth is 2-8 against The Classical Academy since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cardinals will face off against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. Elizabeth will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
The Classical Academy's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Elizabeth hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. The Cardinals didn't even let Woodland Park on the board on Saturday, marking the Cardinals' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Cardinals have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brody Aldridge looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Elizabeth let Walker Blanchard and Joey Dome run wild. Blanchard went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Dome went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Elizabeth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
The Classical Academy came out on top against Lamar on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Titans took their match against the Thunder 9-4.
Elliot Wood and Zach Mediavilla did most of the damage at the plate: Wood got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs, while Mediavilla got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Wood has posted since back in May of 2024.
Elizabeth pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for The Classical Academy, their record is now 15-4.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Elizabeth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .518. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elizabeth came up short against The Classical Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
