The Lithia Springs Lions were the 56-27 winner over the Mays Raiders when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lithia Springs fell 50-43 to the Raiders on Saturday.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amaya Richmond, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Aires Davis, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Mays got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chloe Evans out in front who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Evans is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 18 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekiah Evans, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Lithia Springs has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Mays, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.
Lithia Springs will head out on the road to challenge the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Jackson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 matches. As for Mays, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Tri-Cities is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
