Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica

Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 56-45 win over the Sunny Hills Lancers.

Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica was led to victory by Darren Awili and Jessiah Casey. Awili dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds, while Casey went 8 of 18 on his way to 23 points. The contest was Casey's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence Thomas, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Kamron Tonga and Ze'Brien Watkins certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Tonga dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards, while Watkins dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Tonga is becoming a predictor of Sunny Hills' success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 10-4 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Raeden Bobadilla was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Sunny Hills, they moved to 12-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
