False River is 0-3 against Maurepas since February of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Gators will challenge the Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Maurepas will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: False River extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Gators put the hurt on Family Christian with a sharp 25-1 victory. That looming 25-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Gators yet this season.
Teryn Deville made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Deville was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, False River got a massive performance out of Reese Hadley, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jade Frederick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
False River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .935. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Maurepas hadn't done well against Dunham recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Tigers. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Saydie Sterling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sidney Lauzervich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kambree Delatte also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Maurepas now has a winning record of 9-8. As for False River, their record is now 10-4-1.
False River suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Maurepas in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
