The South Sevier Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Duchesne Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Sevier has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Duchesne will arrive with four straight wins.
South Sevier couldn't beat Grand County on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Rams came up short against the Red Devils, falling 17-7.
Halle Mckinlay was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Tessa Woolsey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Duchesne got themselves on the board against South Summit on Tuesday, but South Summit never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kira Grant was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, Duchesne let Claire Anderton and Prezley Farnsworth run wild. Anderton went 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Farnsworth went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Anderton has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Madi Larsen, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Duchesne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Summit only posted an OBP of .143.
Duchesne's record is now 19-5. As for South Sevier, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Sevier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Duchesne struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Sevier came out on top in a nail-biter against Duchesne in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
