If the Clifton Central Comets were riding high off their 75-50 takedown of the Milford Bearcats on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Clifton Central took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Watseka on Tuesday. Clifton Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Watseka apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
Several Comets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aidan Podowicz, who scored 16 points along with six assists and six steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Peyton Chandler was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Clifton Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Watseka, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Clifton Central will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Peotone at 12:00 p.m. on December 27th. Watseka will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chrisman at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
