Softball Recap: Hudson Has No Trouble Against Firestone

Hudson never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Firestone Falcons as they made off with a 12-0 victory. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Explorers this season.

Claire Eland made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Shawna Baylor and Corinne Stearns did most of the damage at the plate: Baylor went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Stearns went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Baylor has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gianna Pirtle, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Hudson lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Hudson and bumps their season record up to 4-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Firestone, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, Hudson will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Nordonia at 5:00 p.m. The Explorers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Firestone, they will welcome Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
