Basketball Game Preview: Kingstree Blazers vs. Marion Swamp Foxes

The Kingstree Blazers will face off against the Marion Swamp Foxes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingstree knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Marion likes a good challenge.

Kingstree is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Johnsonville: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Kingstree blew Johnsonville out of the water with a 59-14 final score. Fans of the Blazers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Kingstree found their leader in sophomore Naydia Shaw, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards. Shaw's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamarie McCrea, who posted nine points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Marion faced Oceanside Collegiate Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Marion fell 53-40 to Oceanside Collegiate Academy. The Swamp Foxes have struggled against the Landsharks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Kingstree's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Kingstree came out on top in a nail-biter against Marion when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 42-39. Will Kingstree repeat their success, or does Marion have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
