On Tuesday, the Reno Huskies faced the Damonte Ranch Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Reno walked away with a 61-49 win over the Mustangs. For Reno, this counts as revenge for the 53-50 loss the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Reno to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Higgins, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Higgins scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harvey Smerdon, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Damonte Ranch lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jace Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jiro Basabas, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Reno's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-3.
Reno will head out on the road to square off against the Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Manogue is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
