After flying high against the Atlanta Huskies last Friday, the Fairview Eagles came back down to earth. Fairview took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines on Monday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fairview in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost five in a row.
Au Gres-Sims was led to victory by Sophie Fox and Analeis Ming. Fox dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Ming scored 19 points along with five steals. Ming is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Maser, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Au Gres-Sims, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on February 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Michigan (Hale is ranked 554th, while the Eagles are ranked 541st). As for Au Gres-Sims, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillman is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Wolverines a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
