The Gadsden Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Mayfield on the road and fell 51-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Gadsden has scored all season.
Mayfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jazlene Ruiz, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Kirker, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Gadsden's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Mayfield, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Gadsden will head out on the road to challenge Alamogordo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mayfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Organ Mountain is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
