The Berlin Redcoats will head out on the road to square off against the Middletown Blue Dragons at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Berlin is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, Berlin blew past Platt, posting a 49-21 win on the road. Given Berlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Platt is ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Middletown's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Bristol Eastern 51-46.
The losing side was boosted by Shalyn Smith, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tessa Porch, who scored ten points.
Berlin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Middletown, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4.
Berlin couldn't quite finish off Middletown in their previous matchup back in January and fell 55-52. Can Berlin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
