The California Condors are taking a road trip to square off against the Esperanza Aztecs at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. California will be strutting in after a win while Esperanza will be coming in after a loss.
Esperanza will be up against a hot California team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. California came out on top against La Serna by a score of 7-4 on Thursday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Condors as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
California got a great performance from Pricilla Ramirez as she struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mia Martinez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Lauren Trivino, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
California kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Esperanza came up short against Pacifica on Thursday and fell 6-1. The Aztecs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Erin Bigani was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
California's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Esperanza, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. California has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Esperanza struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
California skirted past Esperanza 5-4 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for California since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
