The Canton South Wildcats were the 62-48 winner over the Tuscarawas Valley Trojans when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Canton South fell just short of Tuscarawas Valley by a score of 46-43.
Tuscarawas Valley was led to victory by Cole Clements and John Leffler. Clements scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Leffler scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Leffler has scored at least a third of Tuscarawas Valley's points.
Canton South has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Tuscarawas Valley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7.
Canton South and Springfield will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Hiland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
