The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will be playing at home against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Mt. Carmel was able to grind out a solid victory over the Wolverines, taking the game 65-58. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mt. Carmel.
It was another big night for Raymond Hourani, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. Jimmy Milder was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Rancho Buena Vista came tearing into Friday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Canyon Crest Academy 74-45 on the road. Given Rancho Buena Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Ravens are ranked 535th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mt. Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Rancho Buena Vista, they pushed their record up to 20-6 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Mt. Carmel came up short against the Longhorns in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, falling 74-64. Thankfully for Mt. Carmel, Noah Fields (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
