The Lincoln Northeast Rockets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 70-56 bruising from Lincoln Southwest. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Fredericks, who scored 18 points. Fredericks continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Thach, who scored nine points along with five assists and three steals.
Leading Lincoln Southwest to victory were Karter Chamberlain and Braden Frager. Chamberlain scored 12 points along with two steals, while Frager scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaxyn Cruse, who scored eight points.
Lincoln Northeast has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Lincoln Southwest, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
Lincoln Northeast will take on Elkhorn South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkhorn South will be up against Lincoln Northeast's rather soft defense (which has allowed 68.35 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Gretna East at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southwest is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.
