Harlandale is 4-0 against Alamo Heights since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Harlandale Indians will square off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Harlandale entered their tilt with Winn with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went Harlandale's way against Winn on Tuesday as Harlandale made off with a 73-49 win. Given Harlandale's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Winn is ranked 992nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marissa Ortiz and Maddison Sanchez were among the main playmakers for Harlandale as the former scored 20 points along with five assists and five steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanchez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamila Sosa, who scored five points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Alamo Heights was handed a two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Highlands on Tuesday. Alamo Heights blew past Highlands 63-41.
Sophia Zadel was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Magdalena Gutierrez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Harlandale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 30-6 record this season. As for Alamo Heights, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Harlandale have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Alamo Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
