The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Conestoga came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Johnson County Central is ranked 97th).
Conestoga's loss came despite strong showings from Zachariah Smith and Noah Simones. Smith dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Simones scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Simones' third in a row with at least ten points.
Conestoga's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Johnson County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Conestoga won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Parkview Christian at 2:30 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Parkview Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. Johnson County Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Johnson-Brock at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th.
