Video: Friendship Collegiate Academy - Yannick Ngakoue
See the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end in action as a high-schooler.
Who's got the ultimate bragging rights when it comes to sending players to the NFL from the high school ranks in Washington D.C.?
To
find out, MaxPreps and Lateral Sports teamed up and found the alma
mater of every player on an NFL roster as of opening day (we included
suspended and injured reserve players). Then we broke it all down by
state and came up with the table below.
You will find that Washington D.C. has sent 10 players to the league this season. And they come from six schools.
Want some more fun facts? How about these:
- Dunbar alum Vernon Davis (TE) returned home and plays for the Washington Redskins. His younger brother Vontae is a cornerback for the Colts and played with Arrelious Benn (WR, Jaguars) at Dunbar.
- Although MaxPreps rosters don't show it, media reports have said that Eddie Goldman and Yannick Ngakoue were teammates at Friendship Collegiate Academy.
- The Jaguars and Lions each had a pair of DC alums on their opening day rosters.
