In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. Part of the action? A towering 108-point combined score for Vianney and St. Mary's.
Welcome
Lindbergh not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Lafayette in every quarter. Lindbergh kept its opponent Lafayette off the scoreboard entirely, winning the match 30 - 0. The Lafayette defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 33 points per game), and Lindbergh took advantage of that. The win also thrust Lindbergh into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
East St. Louis's 78 - 13 win over O'Fallon last week had a lot to do with the leadership of sophomore Tyler Macon. Macon ran for 175 yards and also punched in five touchdowns. That performance made Macon one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Christian Brothers (1st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Rockhurst (3rd) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Everything went Christian Brothers's way against Rockhurst as it secured a 45 - 7 win. Christian Brothers was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why.
Movin on Up
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Edwardsville last week (their 4th in a row). It had all the answers against Belleville West, winning 37 - 6. Senior Kendall Abdur-rahman deserves a lot of the credit as he earned two touchdowns and 175 yards rushing the ball. Edwardsville's success was rewarded with a seven-spot boost in the power rankings, the biggest improvement of any team.
