South Charlotte T and Comenius are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The South Charlotte T Thunder will head out on the road to face off against the Comenius Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Charlotte T has eight straight victories, Comenius has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though South Guilford HomeSchool scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, South Charlotte T still came out on top. South Charlotte T walked away with a 68-61 win over South Guilford HomeSchool. Given South Charlotte T's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while South Guilford HomeSchool is ranked 507th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Charlotte T to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aaron Hill, who scored 16 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Graves, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Comenius pushed their score all the way to 57 last Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 86-57 loss at the hands of Charlotte Elite Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (56), Comenius still had to take the loss.
South Charlotte T pushed their record up to 13-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Comenius, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.
South Charlotte T couldn't quite finish off Comenius in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 74-71. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Comenius' Donovin Jones, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
