The Olympic Trojans were the 57-17 winner over the East Mecklenburg Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Olympic fell just short of East Mecklenburg by a score of 37-34. That's two games in a row now that Olympic has lost by exactly three points.
Leading East Mecklenburg to victory were Ava Stallings and Presense Downer. Stallings scored four points along with seven rebounds, while Downer scored eight points. Stallings is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.
Olympic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for East Mecklenburg, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olympic will take on Palisades at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Tynilla Simpkins and Barri Terry. East Mecklenburg won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Weddington at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Weddington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than East Mecklenburg in North Carolina (Weddington is ranked 146th, while East Mecklenburg is ranked 383rd).
