Basketball Recap: Petey Pizzo Key Part of a Team Effort in Warriors Win

Fallbrook lost to Escondido back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Fallbrook Warriors snuck past the Escondido Cougars with a 70-64 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Fallbrook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Petey Pizzo led the charge by going 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points. Pizzo has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times he's played. Xavier Charland was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds.

Fallbrook pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Escondido, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fallbrook will challenge San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fallbrook is facing San Pasqual at the right time seeing as San Pasqual is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Escondido, they will take on Rancho Bernardo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Bernardo will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Escondido surely won't give up without a fight.
