It was a good run, but the Eaton Reds unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 53-37 to University. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eaton has scored all season.
Eaton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delaney Reuter, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kara Sidwell, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allizzey Madrigal, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Madrigal is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Harding, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Eaton's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for University, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Eaton will take on Resurrection Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Resurrection Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests. University won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Weld Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Weld Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 226th, while University is ranked 29th).
