The Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Phillipsburg and snuck past 51-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Thomas More Prep-Marian also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Phillipsburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rad Rodriguez. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodriguez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Shelton, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Thomas More Prep-Marian pushed their record up to 9-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Phillipsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Thomas More Prep-Marian will head out on the road to square off against Norton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Phillipsburg, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Concordia at 7:30 p.m.
