Rushville is 2-8 against the Pirates since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Rushville Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Greensburg Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Rushville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Pirates are ranked 92nd).
Last Monday, Rushville came up short against the Cubs and fell 45-36. Rushville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Quentin Cain, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Adrian Apodaca was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Greensburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 46-42 win over Lawrenceburg. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Greensburg.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greensburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Busick, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Lutz, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Greensburg, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Rushville have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Greensburg struggles in that department as they've made 48.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Rushville was dealt a bruising 77-34 defeat at the hands of the Pirates in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Rushville, Ki Dyer (who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
