Grossmont hasn't had much luck against Steele Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Foothillers will challenge the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Grossmont is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
On Tuesday, Grossmont got the win against El Cajon Valley by a conclusive 3-0.
Grossmont's got stronger as the match went on, holding El Cajon Valley to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 25-14.

Among those leading the charge was Kayla Kenis, who had 11 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted since back in November of 2024.
Grossmont was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in ten consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Steele Canyon earned a 3-1 victory over Mount Miguel on Tuesday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Matadors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Steele Canyon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-19.
Grossmont better keep an eye on Maddison Barefield. She was instrumental in Steele Canyon's win, getting four digs and two aces. Chloe Stock also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.
Steele Canyon now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Grossmont, their record is now 19-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: Grossmont has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Steele Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Grossmont beat Steele Canyon 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Foothillers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
