Jackson-Milton is a perfect 7-0 against Lowellville since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bluejays will be playing at home against the Rockets at 5:00 p.m. Jackson-Milton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Jackson-Milton turned things around against Western Reserve on Wednesday. They blew past the Blue Devils 19-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bluejays considering their one-run performance the game before.
Brena McBeth and Joslynn Cellars made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, McBeth tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cellars tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. McBeth has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, McBeth got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, while Cellars went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave Cellars a new career-high.
In other batting news, Grace Johns was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Brancaccio, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Jackson-Milton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lowellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 19-5 to Mathews.
Giuliana Alfano made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Jackson-Milton's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Lowellville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Lowellville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jackson-Milton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Lowellville, though, as they've been averaging 13.4 hits. Given Jackson-Milton's sizable advantage in that area, the Rockets will need to find a way to close that gap.
Jackson-Milton came out on top in a nail-biter against Lowellville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
