The Beachside Barracudas will head out on the road to challenge the Bishop Kenny Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Beachside earned a 5-2 victory over Foundation Academy.
Aidan Kuglar looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Nickel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Colton Baldwin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Beachside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foundation Academy only posted an OBP of .353.
Meanwhile, Bishop Kenny came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 3-1.
Bishop Kenny also got a great performance from Daly Stephens as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave Stephens a new career-high.
At the plate, Austin Green was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Timmy Pellicer was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Beachside's record now sits at 10-7. As for Bishop Kenny, their record is now 11-8.
