North Duplin's Tyler Royal recorded the longest rushing play in 1A Carolina this season in his game against Princeton last week. Royal scampered for 93 yards on the play and finished with 411 on the day as his team beat the Bulldogs.
Goldsboro extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rosewood, 54-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Cougars.
North Duplin's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Royal threw for 44 yards and Mitchell Thigpen had 44 yards receiving.
Goldsboro's Julius Murphy and Joseph Baker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Murphy has thrown for 1035 yards this season, while Baker, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 29 catches for 365 yards. Royal from Hugh Martin's team leads the league in rushing with 1391 yards.
Two of the top units in 1A Carolina will face off this week when the Rebels take on Ayden-Grifton. North Duplin's offense has racked up 219 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Chargers have allowed only 104 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Rebels take on Ayden-Grifton. As it stands, North Duplin is in third, while Paul Cornwell's team is in second.
Eric Reid's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,524 from 2,714. The improvement came about via a 54-0 victory over the Eagles last week.
