It was a good run, but the Cromwell Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Esko. Cromwell has struggled against Esko recently, as their game on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Cromwell lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jill Anderson, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Isabella Anderson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Cromwell's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Esko, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cromwell won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Two Harbors at 5:45 p.m. on January 30th. Two Harbors will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 340th, while Cromwell is ranked 88th). As for Esko, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Carlton/Wrenshall at 7:15 p.m.
