It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Arete Prep CHARGERS can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 80-79 to the Bruins. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several CHARGERS players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Crew Oetjen, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Mourad, who scored 28 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Arete Prep and nudges their season record down to 16-14. As for Hopi, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Arete Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hopi, they will head out on the road to challenge Rancho Solano Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hopi's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 19 games.
